Our first shout out and kudos goes to Joann Palomino and other CWA members at the New Mexico Department of Health in Roswell for going above and beyond!
On, Saturday February 25, 2017 the Staff with the Southeast Region participated in the annual BABY BOOMER’s Health Expo in Roswell. The Baby Boomer Expo is designed to bring health, wellness, and safety information to the community at large. The programs that participated were teams from: Health Promotion, School Health, Emergency Preparedness, Harm Reduction, and WIC. This year’s theme for the event was the popular 70s movie “Saturday Night Fever”. The SE Region’s booth’s theme was “Staying Alive with the NM Department of Health” in which the teams provided demonstrations on hands only CPR, information on the Zika virus, STD information, condoms, emergency preparedness and infectious diseases such as pertussis. In addition, Harm Reduction coordinated with Blue Cross/Blue Shield van to provide influenza and pneumonia vaccine. It was estimated attendance was 2,000 residents attended the fun filled event. The SE Region booth stayed true to form by taking 1st place for best booth, third year in a row!
