State of New Mexico Workers: Calculate Your 2023 Raise!

JULY 2023

On July 28, 2023 (payday for the first full pay period in July), State of New Mexico employees who have completed their probationary period and have received an overall final rating of “Achieves Performance Standards” or higher on their last evaluation will get a 6% cost of living adjustment (COLA).

Use the calculator below to get your new regular pay rate. Your regular pay rate is on your pay stub under “Hours and Earnings” in the “Rate” column:

A special thanks to our CWA Political Action Committee and Members who bargained with the Governor and lobbied the legislature for an additional 2% over the Governor’s proposed 4% COLA! In addition to the COLA, we are working to improve conditions for Public Workers, including:

  • $1.2 million for the Classification and Compensation Study — the first in 20 years
  • Telework and remote work options
  • Improved pay rate structure — including automatic years-of-service pay increases and appropriate placement for experience both with the State of New Mexico and other employers
  • PERA reform — fixing creeping health care rate hikes and reduced benefits for newer employees
  • A contingency fund to ensure yearly COLA raises — so we’re not at the mercy of future administrations or budget shortfalls
  • Putting the $15/hour minimum into law, with scheduled increases tied to the cost of living — not just for current State of New Mexico employees, but for all future SoNM employees and ALL the workers who keep New Mexico running!

But we need your help — the more people who join the union, the stronger our voice will be when we fight for these improvements!

If you can afford 1 hour of pay per paycheck as union dues, please click on the button below to join as a State of New Mexico employee. We are stronger together, and there is no Union without U!
