Governor Lujan Grisham Needs to Give State Workers Their Raise Back

During the final critical budget negotiations of this year’s Legislative Session, our message to the Governor and Legislators is simple:

Give it back.

While quietly giving her own staff tens of thousands of dollars in pay raises, the Governor called for sacrifice, and the Legislature responded by rescinding most of the modest pay raise that public workers were scheduled to receive in July 2020.

We are calling on them to make public workers whole, by restoring the three percent they took from most of us, and providing a very modest cost of living increase for FY22.

President Biden calls $15 per hour a Poverty Wage

Thousands of public workers in New Mexico are currently paid less than that. Many are deemed essential workers. We also call upon the Governor and the Legislature, to heed the President’s words and budget in a living wage for all public workers, and to make our people whole!

We have been tracking the revenues closely, and the money is there!
