CWA Files Complaints Against the State

CWA recently filed two Prohibited Practice Complaints (PPCs) with the Public Employees Labor Relations Board (PELRB) over both union-busting tactics at the State Personnel Office (SPO) and failure to answer our call to bargain employee wages.

First PPC:

In July of this year, CWA exercised our contractual right to bargain for an increase in salary for the next fiscal year. This bargaining request has been met with silence. While SPO has reached out preliminarily to talk about the possibility of an increase, the state has not actually made moves to sit down with CWA and bargain in good faith. This PPC addresses their lack of action and asks the PELRB to force them to come to the table so we can work on one of the most important issues for state employees. We hope to see movement soon and will let you know what happens.

Second PPC:

Last month, SPO sent an email to employees letting them know the procedures to leave the union. While members of our bargaining unit may join and leave CWA 7076 freely, CWA feels that management should not stamp their endorsement on it. This is a typical union-busting practice and we are sad to see it happen under a labor-friendly administration.

Both PPCs are publicly available, you can see them here:

We will post an update on them when decisions are made.
In solidarity!
